Arrive at complex
All said and done it was not to bad a trip. Everything went relatively smoothly with no real delays. Heck 32 hours is a breeze. Last time it took us 53.
I only got through 2 magazines cover to cover (by the way, this week’s Time cover story and back page column by Bono –(Time.com)--is a must read for anybody interested in international health and extreme poverty—Lori, Tracey, et al. or if you just like Bono like Julie) I watched most of “The Interpreter” though missed a lot of the finer plot points due to the fact I was asleep.
Can I just say here and now that I LOVE MY NEW iPod !!! I know it’s a little materialistic and a little counter to the spirit of this trip, but it is truly awesome! It can hold something like 7,000 songs, a virtual bookshelf full of CDs. Right now I only have about a 1000 songs plus the entire text of Hearing God. I could listen to music and the book for about 4 days (which is about how long it took me to get to India) without hearing the same song twice. God Bless Steve Jobs!
Finally, on the way from the Hyderbad airport to the complex I saw a billboard. “Hyderabad to Chicago … Daily—Air Sahara” Hmmmm … maybe I should check that out for next time.
NUMBERS OF THE DAY:
$4 Billion – Amount in tax breaks given the oil industry in the “energy” bill passed in August
